The Olympus DS-3400 recorder is ideal for capturing notes and reports in high quality DSS or DSS pro format for playback, secretarial transcription. Transcription through speech recognition can also take place (separately available).
The unit incorporates a number of security features including file encryption and device lock function.
The push button control allows for one thumb operation and intuitive handling. Three customisable smart buttons further facilitate instant access to user-defined features, and files can be stored in an impressive seven folders.
The DS-3400 allows for draft dictation, editing, and the ability to insert instructions and comments. Space is also not a problem: up to 157 hours of recording is possible in SP mode on the included 1GB SD card.

Manual Transcription
The DS 3400 product contains everything an author requires for making dictation and downloading onto a laptop or PC. In a typical set up, dictation will then be routed/trasnferred automatically to a secretary or typing pool for receipt, playback and trasncription. In order for a typist to receive dictation and achieve ease of playback and review, the AS 5000 trasncription kit is recommended. This equips the user with software module, footpedal and earphones. The AS 5000 can be seen in greater depath below; listed as one of our recommended items. Automatic Transcription
The Olympus DS 3400 digital recorder may be coupled with speech recognition software (Dragon NaturallySpeaking) to allow for automatic transcription of a single voice of the authors PC or laptop. The R5 software included with the DS 3400 has a direct toolbar link icon to streamline this process.
