This medical upgrade is available to those running Dragon Professional 10 or 11. Vocabularies cannot be added to the Preferred edition.
Dragon Professional can be enhanced and improved for the medical user with the addition of a field specific vocabulary. The medical add-on facilitates accurate speech recognition for clinicians and GPs alike. Within the package, users may select one or multiple categories from an extensive list of specialisms to tailor the system to exactly match need.

In addition to industry or department specific vocabulary the speech engine is tipped to favour medical terms over similar sounding standard UK English words. The contextual model is also developed with medical terminology in mind. Both of these factors significantly enhance accuracy and suitability for clinical reporting or medical dictation when compared to the non medical Dragon edition.

Third Party Correction
Using Dragon in a third party correction mode allows for quick and easy report production but without the checking or correction. Proofing and amending can be done by a secretary or supporting staff member. During this method dictated sound files and the accompanying transcript is delivered to the 3rd party individual for play back. Any alterations made automatically update the speakers Dragon voice profile to ensure accuracy is continually improved. Voice Notations may also be left by the dictator for the 3rd party author which appear as highlighted instructions

Mobile Dictation
A digital recorder may be used in conjunction with Dragon Speech Recognition to allow greater flexibility in working practice. Where dictation with Dragon is typically done at the PC or laptop, the addition of a mobile recording device (e.g. Olympus DS 5000 Recorder)permits dictation on the move. On return to the office, dictation are downloaded and run through Dragon for automatic transcription.
